Peace Memorial Park
Notes: By the scramble signal at the east end of the Steel Bridge
By: Jessica RobertsDuring his tenure at the Portland Parks Bureau, landscape architect George Hudson (now at Alta Planning + Design) successfully shepherded the Eastbank Esplanade project into existence. This world-class bicycling and walking project managed to construct a floating pathway on the Willamette and, after a decade of negotiations, secured permission from the Union Pacific Railway to build a cantilevered pathway on the lower deck of the Steel Bridge. George will share his tales from the trenches, and his insight into the design and construction process.
This event is organized by the Womens Transportation Seminar. The walk will take place rain or shine - bring an umbrella if it's looking wet.
